WHAT TO EXPECT
Sri Lanka hides a gem, I can promise that. Our trip turned out to be better than expected. The people, the food, the views… everything was mind-blowing. I can surely say it’s one of the most kind and beautiful cultures I have ever had the chance to meet.

Pick a destination
- Colombo
- South Coast Towns
- Yala National Park
- Ella & Nuwara Eliya
- Pinnawala
Best time to visit
The weather varies depending in which area you travel to as the country is divided into two monsoons. If you’d like to explore the Central and South region, the best time to go is between December to March; and for the East coast between April to September. However, if you travel to Sri Lanka you are likely to travel the whole country as much as you can, so there is no need to worry that much about the weather as you’ll get the best of both worlds! One thing’s true: despite having warm temperatures all year long in the South region, pack some warm layers if you are planning on going up the hill to Nuwara Eliya.

THINGS TO KNOW
Currency: The Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR)
Language: Sinhala and Tamil are the two official languages in Sri Lanka and you’ll find many people who speak english.
Plugs: Type D, M and G and the standard voltage is 230 V.
VISA: Mandatory VISA obtained online through the official government site.
Safety: Sri Lanka remains to be a safe country for travelers. However, for quite a while the North are was restricted to visit due to the terrorist attacks occurred in 2019. It is not forbidden to go anymore but I’ll recommend better traveling Central and South.
Health: Make sure you get a good health insurance as the sanitary conditions generally remain poor in the entire country.
