WHAT TO EXPECT

Spain is amazing, not just because I am from here… I think what I like most about my country is the weather mix: you can enjoy both a cold and snowy winter, as well as a hot summer in the beach. The food is amazing too, specially my mother’s. There is everything you can enjoy: tropical and volcanic islands, desserts, clear water beaches (mediterranean and athlantic), mix-culture architecture (islamic and spanish), and the list goes on.

Best time to visit

Spring (March to May) or Fall (September to November) are considered to be the best times to visit Spain. Peak season is from June to August when the temperatures are hotter and the coast sides get very crowded. In South Spain, the temperatures increase up to 40ºC, being the hottest part of the country. The best time to visit and enjoy the Canary Islands is from April to September. However, the Canary Islands have a tropical weather which makes both winter and summer good periods to visit them as it stays warm all year long.

THINGS TO KNOW

Currency: The euro (EUR) is the national currency of Spain.

Language: Spanish is the official language of Spain but many people speaks English.

Plugs: The power plugs are of type F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

VISA: Spain is a member country of the EU and no VISA is required for EU citizens. Most Latin American countries, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the USA are also visa-exempt for a stay of up to 90 days.

Safety: In general, the whole country enjoys a high level of security. Crime is rare, although it is advisable to be aware in the busiest public places due to the possible presence of pickpockets.

Health: For EU citizens it is extremely important to have the European Health Card (EHIC), which guarantees assistance from the Social Security of the European country of origin. For other nationalities it is always advisable to get a good travel insurance.
